Timothy Englert is a Hudson Valley artist, historian and conservationist renowned for his unique and modernistic log-based designs of outdoor furniture and gathering spaces. More than one hundred of Timothy’s remarkable works occupy Hudson Valley and Midwest trails, amphitheaters, county parks, museums, outdoor classrooms, public gathering spaces, and private collections.
Timothy had an early interest in woodworking and, after college, was honored as the recipient of a Thomas J. Watson Fellowship to study stringed instruments and furniture design throughout Western Europe. He enriched his knowledge and craftsmanship through this fellowship which laid the groundwork for his ongoing commitment to his art and the environment.
Timothy personally mills each original piece utilizing reclaimed or sustainably harvested trees. His designs are rustic-inspired yet contemporary and seek to connect people with nature. His distinctive designs include the Knickerbocker Bench and the Harmony Table. The Knickerbocker Bench began in 2006 as a gift to a local state park to memorialize a historic location of a long forgotten sustainable industry - natural ice. The Bench has been commissioned with memorial plaques throughout the Hudson Valley. The Harmony Table was designed to draw people together for many types of outdoor gatherings.
With over five decades of craftsmanship, Timothy has established himself as a master craftsman, environmental artist, and custodian of nature’s beauty. Through his distinctive and innovative designs and sustainable practices, he continues to inspire others to forge a deep connection with the natural world and contribute to its preservation.
Timothy resides in Rockland County, New York, with his wife Kimberly, their two daughters Isabella and Piper, and their beloved dog Oliver.
